A lot of junior developers are still clinging to React like it\u2019s a ticket to a job. That worked a few years ago. It doesn\u2019t work now.<\/p>\n
Back then, companies were desperate. There were so many React projects that they hired juniors just to fill seats and crank out basic components. You didn\u2019t need depth. You just needed to be \u201cgood enough\u201d with the tool.<\/p>\n
That door has closed. AI now handles much of that entry-level work. The easy tasks that used to justify hiring juniors? They\u2019re gone or heavily reduced.<\/p>\n
If your entire value is tied to a framework, you\u2019re in trouble.<\/strong><\/p>\n This isn\u2019t about React. It\u2019s about a pattern that\u2019s been repeating for decades.<\/p>\n There\u2019s always a \u201chot thing\u201d that creates opportunity. Then the market catches up. Then the advantage disappears. I\u2019ve seen it with Flash, VB6, Delphi\u2014you name it. Big demand, then nothing.<\/p>\n React was just the latest version of that cycle.<\/p>\n Now the demand is shifting again, and it\u2019s landing squarely around AI-assisted development.<\/p>\n But here\u2019s the catch: AI doesn\u2019t replace skill. It amplifies it.<\/strong><\/p>\n AI can get you most of the way through a project. It can scaffold, suggest, and even debug. But it can\u2019t think for you when things go sideways.<\/p>\n That\u2019s where juniors are hitting a wall.<\/p>\n They can generate code, but when the system breaks\u2014or when pieces need to fit together cleanly\u2014they don\u2019t have the foundation to finish the job.<\/p>\n That last 20% is where the real work is:<\/p>\n Frameworks don\u2019t teach you that. AI won\u2019t teach you that either.<\/p>\n We\u2019ve been moving toward higher levels of abstraction since the \u201990s. Every step reduced the amount of code you write while increasing what you\u2019re responsible for.<\/p>\n AI just compressed that trend.<\/p>\n You can now build more with less code than ever before. But that also means mistakes scale faster, and shallow knowledge gets exposed quickly.<\/p>\n The bar didn\u2019t disappear. It moved up.<\/strong><\/p>\n There is no shortage of work.
